Not Exactly, but it’s Still Strange
A few days ago, I was updating Valve’s Steam digital distribution client on my computer. In the process I downloaded the free new DLC for Left 4 Dead and picked up a copy of Dangerous Highschool Girls in Trouble! (which I hope to review sooner or later.) Everything was fine until the next day when I noticed something really strange.
On my desktop, I have a shortcut for another digital distribution software I use: Stardock’s Impulse. The Impulse logo looks like a lightning bolt on a black circular background. For some reason though, the Impulse shortcut now had Valve’s Steam logo instead of its original one.
It only lasted a few days before I tried to look into it some more. I searched through the actual Impulse files, which seemed to remind my computer that the Impulse logo shouldn’t look like Steam’s, and auto-corrected itself.
Nevertheless, seeing one logo instead of the other was very disconcerting. I haven’t been able to find any similar problems on a quick internet search, but thought I’d write about it in case others have had a similar experience, or if maybe someone more tech-savvy than I could explain it to me.
The last thing I expect is some sort of malicious intent on Valve’s part, but wouldn’t that be something…
EDIT: I know the titles a bit misleading, but how could I resist!
